
CASS Forum
According to the report of the 17th CPC national congress,China is set to “develop philosophy and social sciences”,“encourage the academic community in these fields to serve as a think tank”,and “introduce outstanding achievements and distinguished scholars to the world”.The launch of CASS Forum is an important step taken by CASS to implement CPC guidelines and the “going global” strategy for philosophy and social sciences.
CASS organized the first China Social Sciences Forum(CASS Forum)in 2010.Based on the research achievements and expertise of CASS researchers as well as its extensive experience in international academic exchanges,the Forum provides a platform for high level discussions on topics such as economic and social development of China,major global issues,Chinese cultural heritage preservation and development and international cultural exchanges and interaction.Renowned scholars home and abroad,experts from think tanks and international organizations,representatives of governments and businesses will discuss at the forum current issues from both strategic and forward looking perspectives.Each forum features high level guest speakers from governments,academia and industries as well as forum delegates.
The Forum aims to become a high level platform for social sciences and humanities discussions through which the world can know more about China.The Chinese academia can also learn from scholars worldwide through the Forum,contributing wisdom and power to the harmonious development of China and the world at large.
The Forum includes an annual meeting and workshops on specific topics.The workshops deal with major disciplines in social sciences and humanities,including Marxism,economics,sociology,international issues,legal studies,philosophy,history,literature,etc.Under the Forum framework,eighteen international workshops are to be held in 2010,including themes such as “Macroeconomic performance and policies in China”,“China’s Labor Market in the Post-Financial Crisis Period”,“Social Security and Human Resources Development in the Post-Financial Crisis Period”,“Carbon Budget and Climate Justice”,“Urban Competitiveness”,“Social Mobility and Social Harmony”,“Soft Power and the Changing International System”,“Post-Crisis Regional Economic Integration”,“Asian Regional Cooperation”,“Sino-EU relations after the Lisbon Treaty”,“the 21st Century Archeology,China and the World”,“Modern China and the World”,“Historical Reflections and the Process of Reconciliation in East Asia and Europe after WWII”,“the Cultural Origins of Modern Lifestyles”,etc.The Forum annual meeting is scheduled for October 2010.
