This song of the Zhuang Nationality (壮族), taken from the 16th page of The Folk Songs of Yue: In the Wake of the Nine Hymns (《粤风续九》), expresses the singer’s outlook on life, in light of which a person’s value lies in his character rather than in his fortune, for the latter is evanescent and the former everlasting.
