Great Egret

The Great Egret, also known as Great White Egret, standing up to 1 m (3.3 ft) tall, with very long neck and feet, and white feathers all over the body. In breeding season, delicate ornamental feathers cover the back, some of which are even 3 to 4 cm longer than those of the tail. The back feather stems are hard, and gradually soft to the end, with slender and sparse barbs. At this stage, the bill is black, and the lore is green. After the breeding season, the long back feathers disappear, while the bill, lore turn to yellow, with yellow iris, flesh red tibia exposed and black tarsometatarsus and toes.
